A thoughtful renovation of a much-loved Mt Hobson home, transforming the way it works while retaining the character and craftsmanship of the original house. The kitchen was completely reworked, with the removal of the existing flat ceiling and introduction of a new skillion ceiling creating a lighter, more expansive living space. A new pantry and laundry, reconfigured bathrooms, refreshed bedroom and new rear joinery further improved the home’s functionality and connection to the outdoors.

Original details, including pressed metal ceilings, ornate colonial cornices and generous ceiling heights, were carefully retained throughout. Completed in just four months, the renovation demonstrates how considered design and quality craftsmanship can give an established home a new lease of life without changing its footprint.
The project was awarded Gold and named the Regional Category Winner in the Renovation $500,000–$1 million category at the 2026 Master Builders House of the Year Awards.
